International Guild of Realism
International Guild of Realism 15th Annual Juried Exhibition

At the Principle Gallery in Charleston, SC  |  October 2nd - October 31st, 2020

The International Guild of Realism had a wonderful two days of art events celebrating the opening of our 15th Annual Exhibition at the beautiful Principle Gallery in Charleston, South Carolina. We enjoyed several events with over 20 IGOR artists and guests in attendance. We are thankful that the exhibition went forward during this difficult time with the coronavirus. You should all be very proud of your artwork as it was once again an amazing show. Congratulations to all who received award ribbons (See below), however ALL of you should know that being juried into the show is an honor in itself. We applaud you!

Many thanks to our hosts at the beautiful Principle Gallery for all of their hard work and excellent displaying of the amazing number of paintings at this year's show. Congrats to the Principle Gallery! The quality of the IGOR show was amazing and without a doubt, another astounding IGOR Annual Exhibition. The Principle Gallery is one of the best realism galleries in the US and they did an outstanding job promoting this amazing exhibition. The paintings were hung beautifully and the lighting on every painting was perfect. Our host gallery was equally as thrilled with the quality of the show and they were grateful that so many IGOR artists attended the opening events.

Rendezvous in Charleston

Two Days of Art Events for IGOR Attendees
On Thursday evening, October 1st, we had an amazing, gourmet dinner reception in the historic district at Bistro A Vin in their open air courtyard. We had a few talks from Frank Conrad Russen, Principle Gallery Director, and from Donald Clapper, founding IGOR Charter Member.

We enjoyed a fascinating history tour of Charleston by professional tour guide, Jill Paris of Eclectic Tours of Charleston on Friday afternoon.

Our wonderful two days culminated with the opening reception at the Principle Gallery. The party was very well attended with many patrons of the arts and everyone dressed beautifully for the gala. This special evening was a perfect way to end our festivities. Many thanks to all for another IGOR success!

Selected Artists

The jury for this year’s exhibition was handled in two levels with IGOR Charter Members handling the first level, and then the owner and gallery director of the Principle Gallery completed the selection. Once again we received an amazing array of superb entries and our jurors were quite impressed with the quality and creativity of the work entered. Thank you, IGOR artists, for submitting such wonderful artwork.

The jurors, after reviewing the images over a few week period, made the difficult final selection. Deciding upon a limited number of paintings from an impressive array of entries wasn’t an easy task, and the jurors could not resist adding many more pieces to this exhibition than originally planned. Well over 40% of the entered artists made it through so please realize that you always have a good chance at being selected for a future IGOR event because of our small, juried only membership. We had artists from many countries enter this exhibition including Canada, Norway, USA, Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden, Russia, Ukraine, Switzerland, Philippines, Mexico, Greece, Australia, France, Thailand, UK, Spain, Hong Kong and India. Plus we have a huge diversity of media in the exhibition including Acrylic, Watercolor, Oil, Soft Pastel, Colored Pencil, Graphite, Pastel, Ink, Tempera, Scratchboard, and Gouache.

Congratulations to this year's selected artists! The artwork submitted was exceptional (well over 475 entries). The exhibition will include 111 works by 107 IGOR members. Here is the final list:
