Artist's Statement

After numerous drawing classes all through high school and a sculpture class art was always important to me. An art professor in college suggested graduate school. But I chose the law profession and decades flew by. I started painting again about 10 years ago. I am primarily self taught at oil painting. My focus has always been on recreating the process the old masters — beginning with a brown wash surface, painting a cartoon or drawing on top of it and then adding colors and light which somehow hopefully magically creates a realistic presentation of the subject matter. When I am not oil painting I am doing charcoal drawings or iPad sketches. To see more of my work, please visit my website.
