Artist's Biography:

After graduating from the Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Engineering in 1963, Hunt worked in the aerospace industry and then his own business for 26 years. During that time he enjoyed oil painting as an avocation. In 1989 his wife Beverly encouraged him to turn his avocation into his vocation.

Now as a self-taught professional artist he is enjoying national recognition as a representational historic artist. He publishes his painting in the form of limited edition lithographs and canvas reproductions. Customers include a catalog company, museums and governmental agencies including the National Park Service.

One of the highlights of his career was learning that one of his creations was displayed at the White House in Washington D.C.

Artist's Statement:

I enjoy history, so all my artistic energy is directed toward the preservation of our countries’ history with the use of oil paints on stretched canvas. Giving future generations a visual reference of our progression as a nation through my representational style of art is important to me.

My railroad paintings offer the viewer scenes of railroad companies that no longer exist and engines that are no longer used. My paintings of our early history offer scenes of personal relationships during difficult times. The Civil war may bring to mind combat images to most artists, but for me I see a husband saying goodbye to his wife, or a father saying goodbye to his daughter, with promises of his return. I see two exhausted confederate soldiers wondering when the war will end.

I research my subjects very thoroughly utilizing resources such as the National Archives in Washington, D.C.
